Making a Narrow House Feel Wider

Making a Narrow House Feel Wider

We are excited to announce that we have been working on another brownstone for the past few months.

It’s a quite narrow one, with lot line to lot line measuring only 16’-5” wide, leaving just over 15’ wall to wall inside. On the parlor floor, removing the wall dividing the stair hall and the living room constitutes the most dramatic change to the space and is an integral part of our plan to make this house feel wider. You can already see the difference in the post-demo photo. The few remaining studs, supporting an electrical panel not yet relocated, give you a clear idea of exactly how divisive that wall was.

We look forward to posting periodic updates as the project progresses.
